Telehealth Informed Consent

In plain language. Terve Health arranges laboratory testing and a physician's written review of your results. That physician works with you remotely — they do not examine you in person. This page explains what that means, what it can and cannot do for you, and how to change your mind.

Who provides your care

Terve Health is the consumer brand of Heartlab Medical PC, a licensed medical practice. Your panel is ordered, and your results are reviewed, by a licensed physician of that practice who is licensed in the state where you have your blood drawn. That physician exercises their own professional judgment, and no part of Terve Health overrides a clinical decision. Laboratory testing itself is performed by an independent CLIA-certified laboratory, which is not part of the practice.

What telehealth means here

Telehealth is the delivery of health care using information and communication technology when you and the clinician are not in the same place. In this service, that means the clinician reviews the information you provide and your laboratory results, and communicates with you in writing and, where appropriate, by phone or secure message. There is no in-person visit and no physical examination.

What you can expect to receive

  • A physician's order for the laboratory panel you purchased.
  • A written review of your results in plain language, including what is outside the reference range and what it may mean in the context of your other markers.
  • Guidance on what to do next, including when to seek in-person care.
  • Prompt contact if a result requires urgent attention.

Benefits

Telehealth can give you access to a physician's interpretation without travel, waiting rooms, or a referral, and it lets a clinician review your complete panel together rather than one marker at a time. For laboratory interpretation specifically — which is reading numbers in context — remote review is well suited to the task.

Risks and limitations — please read this part

  • No physical examination. A condition that would be found by examining you — listening to your heart and lungs, palpating, inspecting your skin — can be missed entirely. Laboratory results are one window on your health, not the whole of it.
  • Laboratory testing does not diagnose most conditions. A normal panel does not mean you are well, and an abnormal marker is frequently explained by something benign. Be wary of any service that tells you otherwise.
  • Information you provide may be incomplete or inaccurate. The clinician relies on what you tell us. Errors or omissions in your information can lead to a wrong interpretation.
  • Technology can fail. Delays, transmission problems, or security failures are possible, and could postpone your care.
  • This service is not for emergencies. It is not monitored continuously. If you think you are having a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department. Do not wait for a result or a reply.
  • Follow-up may require in-person care. Some findings can only be resolved by an examination, imaging, or a procedure that cannot be done remotely. You may incur additional cost with another provider.

Your alternatives

You do not have to use telehealth. You may see a clinician in person, ask your own physician to order these tests, or purchase individual tests directly from a laboratory. Choosing any of those does not disadvantage you with us in any way.

Your privacy

Information you share is protected health information held by Heartlab Medical PC. It is handled under applicable law, including HIPAA and the California Confidentiality of Medical Information Act, and under the practice's Notice of Privacy Practices, which is a separate document still being prepared — the Privacy Policy describes what happens in the meantime, and nothing clinical is ever sent to an advertising platform. No method of electronic transmission is perfectly secure; we use reasonable administrative, physical and technical safeguards. Sharing your medical information with anyone outside your care requires your separate written authorization — see our Authorization for Use & Disclosure of Medical Information .

Your rights

  • You may withdraw this consent at any time, in writing to support@tervehealth.com, without affecting care you have already received. Withdrawing consent ends telehealth care going forward; it does not delete records already created.
  • You may ask questions before agreeing, and at any time afterwards.
  • You have the same right to access your medical records as you would with in-person care.
  • You may request a copy of this consent.
